Outdoor lifestyle session
1. Aside from indoor lifestyle ,all sessions will take place outside in a mutually agreed upon public location.

I am located in the south east end of the city, so most often the location will be a park such as Fish creek, or Carburn park. If that isn't your style, I do know of a few urban locations. Please note that I do charge an addition $50 travel fee for any location north of downtown. Locations chosen will generally give you multiple options for backgrounds. I am also open to any suggestions you have as far as location. I love to explore new places so please let me know. Also, I specialize in natural light photography, and do not have a studio in my own. However, I am happy to do a lifestyle session in your home.

2. Lifestyle and posed photography

I love to capture photos of my clients interacting, being as natural as possible and having fun. I will provide a mix of posed and natural candid shots in order to provide you with the as many options as possible. Input from you and what you want your resulting set of images to look like is also important to extremely helpful to me when planning your session. I know that everyone loves those amazing shots either of your kids interacting and having fun, or a parent sharing a special moment with their child. Some of the best shots happen as we venture between different spots at chosen location. This is particularly important for family sessions. I understand that walking from place to place with kids can get tricky and we like to be prepared. I will carry a backpack with me to hold some your must haves for your kids because I am a mom, and nobody wants to be running back to the car mid session for water, snack, diapers etc... But unless you want your strollers, diaper bags , purses in the photos I suggest leaving them in the car.

3. Best time of the day to do photos

I love kids session, these are my absolutely favorite sessions to do. It wasn't until I started to understand more about the editing process that I learned that time of day is so important. Downside of kids sessions is that between naps, bedtimes etc... choosing a time of day can be challenging. Best times for an outdoor session is typically in the few hours before sunset or in the couple hours following sunrise. This does not mean that I never do sessions at times other than these, but these times will lend the most beautiful light and will open up the session to more locations other than shade.
4. This is a judgement free zone...so relax and have fun

I chose to do kids and family photography because I love to capture all moments of childhood and parenthood. It's not perfect, its real and it should be a reflection of your family. Prepare your kids for the session by letting them know how much fun it will be, as I try my best to allow the kids to make decisions and lead the way. And it is no secret - getting your picture taken can be awkward. I am they most awkward person to take a photo of. I wont look at the camera, I am usually yelling at my lovely children and I struggle after 3 kids trying to pose with my husband in a way that makes us look like love sick teenagers again. So in other words, don't be me. Relax, enjoy yourselves and each other.
5. After your session
I hope to provide you with a little glimpse of your session on either facebook or instagram within 48 hours of your session. After 1-2 weeks you will receive a message from me with a link to your online gallery.
Can't wait to meet you

What is a 'newborn lifestyle session'?

Lifestyle newborn session
A newborn lifestyle session is a family session where interaction with your new baby is captured in a comfortable home environment. It allows for a more natural interaction, with all the emotions and love for this special time in your life. During the session I will offer some guidance and include some formal poses, but most of the session will just unfold naturally on it's own.
What to Expect
When I first arrive I will take a few minute to check out different areas in your home that bring in the most natural light. Majority of the session will take place in the nursery, master bedroom and living room. Your baby will decide which direction the session will go. So whether it's nap time, feeding time or discovering the sounds around time then that is where we start. I will make use of the space around me, and may need to move things around (I promise to put it back) just to avoid things that may be a distraction in the photo.
Preparing for your session
1. Please do not clean on my account. I have three kids, I will never walk into your space and pass judgement. But you will need to get your husband or your kids to declutter a little bit by moving things into the rooms where they belong (Towels off floor, water bottles off the night stands etc). Having a decluttered space allows for the focus to remain on the interaction between your family and your new baby.

2.Turn up the heat a little bit in your home. We will all probably be hot messes, especially by the end of the session, but this will help with keeping the baby comfortable.

3.Collect any items you want to use in the session before hand. Swaddle blankets, onesies, stuffed animals. We can go through these items together and determine how we can use them in the session.

4.Open up the curtains and blinds in the nursery, master bedroom and living room.
What to wear
Keep as comfortable as you want, this is your session in your home. I do encourage neutral colors, and avoiding any logos or bold patterns. For moms, something light a flowy such a maxi dress or cotton gown help to keep with the more relaxed vibe. As well avoid wearing shoes. No shame in going barefeet. Especially in your soon to be extra warm house. You are going to want to feel comfortable.
And I know its temping to want to dress your new baby in all the fun little outfits, but I ask that you keep them as natural as possible. Wearing only a diaper, and swaddled.
Also remember to relax. If your baby gets fussy, it's okay. There is no rush. If you need a moment, then take a moment.
